Princess Madeleine’s husband admits marrying into royal family 'complicated' his life

While Princess Madeleine is a Swedish royal, she appears to be a fan of the British monarchy. The 35-year-old’s husband, Christopher O'Neill, revealed his wife’s favorite TV shows in an exclusive interview with Swedish men's fashion magazine, King. According to Chris, Madeleine is a huge fan of Netflix’s The Crown, which follows the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the beginning of her reign. He also revealed that his wife enjoys Suits, the show that made future British royal Meghan Markle's name.

In his interview, the American-British financier, 43, spoke candidly about his life with Princess Madeleine. He said, "I've met the woman of my life, the woman I love. But it is clear that it has its challenging sides to be married to a Princess. Of course, it has complicated my life, for obvious reasons.”

Chris added, “I have no desire to achieve any kind of fame, nor have any benefits of it in my professional life. It happens that I'm mad about Madeleine. But in the end, you learn to live with it."

When it comes to press scrutiny surrounding the Swedish royal family, the dad-of-two admitted that he tends to react on behalf of his wife. Chris said, "It happens that I read in the media and react to insinuations that she does not really work as Princess of Sweden, and I get upset on her behalf. She sometimes chooses not to use her Princess title in what she does, which means that much of her work can happen behind the scenes, which in turn means that the press rarely draws attention to it. And why should they? She has made an effort just to avoid it."

Madeleine and her husband, who tied the knot in 2013, are currently expecting their third child together. The pair, who are already parents to daughter Princess Leonore, three, and Prince Nicolas, two, are set to welcome their new bundle of joy in March.

A press secretary for the royal previously told HOLA! USA that Madeleine wants her children to feel “at home” in Sweden. The press officer said, “The Princess feels that her children should have a strong connection with Sweden. She wants them to feel at home here just as she does.”
